Salbei
A restaurant you can almost smell before you walk in.
Concept project: Salbei is a fictional business. The project shows how I would approach a website for this industry.
The challenge
Restaurant websites are often a PDF menu and a phone number. But guests decide on their phones, in seconds, and usually hungry. If they have to pinch and zoom, they book somewhere else.
The approach
The site is built around two questions: what's on today, and is there a free table? Warm, dark colours and a rounded display face bring the feel of the dining room onto the screen.
The solution
The menu is a real text page (readable, translatable, findable on Google), booking has large tap targets, and opening hours are always in view. Photos are served in modern formats at the right size, so the site loads fast even on a weak signal.
What makes it special
Booking in 3 steps
Day, guests, time. Large tap targets, a clear confirmation, and ready for common reservation systems.
Menu, not PDF
Dishes as real text with allergen notes: accessible, translatable and readable by search engines.
Atmosphere without the weight
Mood comes from colour, typography and measured motion, not heavy videos.
